Longevity Nation 2026 – November 23-24 – Bar-Ilan University

We now intensify our efforts to organize our main longevity conference in Israel – Longevity Nation 2026, that will take place, as usual, in Bar-Ilan University, at the Nanotechnology Building 206, on November 23-24.

The dates November 23-24 were chosen to honor the 100th anniversary of the founder of our “Vetek (Seniority) Association – the Movement for Longevity and Quality of Life” – Rafi Eitan (23 November 1926 – 23 March 2019), so the event will also commemorate his contribution to the Israeli society, in particular the well-being of senior citizens.

The conference will bring together leading experts from Israel and around the world in the field of healthy longevity, and will explore scientific, technological, medical, social and political aspects of healthy longevity. Beside knowledge exchange, the conference will help launch new national and international initiatives in the healthy longevity field.

In the past, our conferences were quite instrumental for bringing tangible support for the healthy longevity field in Israel, by raising the interest and involvement of the decision makers and general public. We hope we will do this again this time.

The conference is co-organized by leading organizations in the longevity field, including Vetek (Seniority) Association – the Movement for Longevity and Quality of Life, International Longevity Alliance (ILA), and others.

The conference will take place physically only, to improve networking in the longevity space in Israel, after a difficult period.

Several world leading figures in the longevity space have confirmed their live presentations at the conference. The list of speakers will be expanded in time.

Funding opportunities for aging research in the EU

Europe faces rapidly accelerating population ageing, driving multimorbidity and unsustainable healthcare costs. Yet, there is currently no dedicated coordination and support framework in the EU targeting the biological, social and systemic drivers of ageing. Hence, there is an urgent need for the establishment of an EU Coordination and Support Programme on Healthy Ageing and Longevity to integrate research, innovation, regulation, and capacity‑building across Member States.

This was the argument in the recent position paper “The need to increase support for healthy ageing and longevity research in the EU by establishing a Coordination and Support Programme on Healthy Ageing and Longevity” that has been co-authored by over 80 leading researchers and experts on aging, representing over 100 leading organizations in the aging field (national and international professional associations, research institutes and research foundations) from 28 Horizon Europe member and associated countries. We are proud that among them, Vetek was one of the initiating and leading organizations. The paper is available in open access:

With a considerable input from this position paper, there was recently established the International Parliamentary Cooperation Initiative for Healthy Ageing and Longevity, that will advance policies in support of healthy ageing and longevity, primarily in the EU, but also wider, including support for research, development, education and application for healthy longevity.

Memorandum of Understanding – The International Parliamentary Cooperation Initiative for Healthy Ageing and Longevity

We will continue our advocacy for increasing the support and coordination for the vital field of aging research.

Yet, even now, several funding possibilities for aging research or research related to aging are available in the EU. Below are some examples. We will update on those possibilities, as well as about our advocacy efforts. Thank you for your support!
